ABOUT Sureeli is the fearless, strong woman residing in the majestic hills of Uttarakhand. She is a celebration of the beautiful spirit of the very hard working pahadi woman. These dolls are handmade with Bhimal (Natural fibre), extracted from tree found commonly in the lower Himalayas. Originally used to make ropes, this humble fibre has found a new dimension with these handcrafted dolls. These dolls are made by a small group of women from a local village. The dolls signify the Pahadi woman, with colorful traditional outfit, with matching headscarf, and a unique ornament – the Nath from Uttarakhand. She is seen working, carrying a bundle of grass to her home.
